RECOMMENDATION
The Parks and Recreation Department recommends approval of the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant application to fund the construction of the Stagecoach trail.
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
The Stagecoach trail is a connecting trail from Rimrock Road to Skyline trail along HWY3. This trail is vital for the completion of the Marathon Loop and a connecting point form the Rims to trails below. The TAP grant will provide the 87% funding to construct the trail.
ALTERNATIVES
City Council may:
- Approve; or,
- Not Approve
FISCAL EFFECTS
By approving the submittal of the application there are no fiscal affects, but if the grant is awarded to the Parks and Recreation Department the trail will be funded to 87%. The City will be required to fund the matching 13% portion (approximately $800,000).
SUMMARY
The Parks and Recreation Department recommends the approval of the application for the TAP grant. This grant is a great opportunity to receive the majority of the funding necessary to construct the Stagecoach trail.
