RECOMMENDATION

Staff Recommends Council approve the resolution naming the Southeast portion of Poly Vista Park "Landon's Park at Poly Vista" and within that area, naming the Miracle League Field at Poly Vista Park, "Landon's Miracle Field"

BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)

The first phase development of Poly Vista Park is nearly complete.  Included in these improvements is a Miracle League baseball field.  The Miracle League is a national organization dedicated to removing barriers that keep children with mental and physical disabilities off the baseball field and lets them experience the joy of America's favorite pastime providing a totally accessible baseball venue.  The Landon's Legacy Foundation partnered with the City of Billings Parks and Recreation Department to construct this first phase of the Poly Vista Park Improvements which at its center is a Miracle League Baseball Field.  The Landon's Legacy Foundation is requesting to re-name the Southeast portion of Poly Vista Park where the Miracle League Baseball Field is located, "Landon's Park at Poly Vista".  Also, the Foundation is requesting that the field itself be named "Landon's Miracle Field".  See Attachment A. This proposal was brought before the Parks, Recreation and Cemetery Board at their June 8, 2022 meeting and the Board unanimously voted to recommend the naming of these two areas of the park.
