RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that City Council accept the donation from Fidelity Charitable Donor Advised Fund grant, recommended by Anne and Bill Cole of $2,300 for the purpose of helping to pay for a wrap decal for the Rec2U van at Billings Parks and Recreation

BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)

Fidelity Charitable Donor Advised Fund grant, recommended by Anne and Bill Cole, have generously donated $2,300 to the Billings Parks and Recreation Department to help pay for the wrap decal for the Rec2U van used to provide free summer activities in neighborhood parks.  The Rec2U idea was formulated during the City Council retreat in an effort to help prevent crime and activate parks with recreational activities for all ages.  It was recommended that a pilot program start this summer at Hawthorne and Highland parks. The Recreation staff looks forward to expanding the program to more neighborhood parks next year.

ALTERNATIVES

City Council may:
  • Approve the donation of $2,300 to the Billings Parks and Recreation Department for the Rec2U program; or,
  • Not Approve the donation and provide staff with additional guidance.

FISCAL EFFECTS

There will be no additional fiscal impacts to the City's General Fund
