PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
Bids were received by the Street/Traffic Division of the Public Works Department on March 22, 2011, to purchase an Aerial Truck. This purchase was approved by the City Council in the FY11 budget for replacement of an existing Aerial Truck as part of the Equipment Replacement Plan (ERP). The new truck will have a 5 year warranty that will be included with the bid price. Staff is asking that the City Council delay the bid award so that it has adequate time to review the bids.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
Staff is not prepared to make a recommendation on March 28, so there are no viable alternatives. At the April 11 meeting, the City Council may accept the recommended bid or may reject all bids.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The Street/Traffic Division budgeted $107,200 for this purchase.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends delaying the bid award for a new Aerial Truck until the April 11 Council meeting.
