RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the acceptance of the 2023 Recreational Trails Program grant for $100,000.00 to rebuild the Lillis Park trail which runs East to West along Lillis Ln.
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
Staff, working closely with Trail Net to secure funding to do the long overdue repairs to the Lillis park trail was awarded the 2023 Recreation Trails Program grant. The current trail condition limits who can use it because the surface is in disrepair. The repairs will make the trail accessible to all users.
ALTERNATIVES
City Council may:
- Approve; accepting of the 2023 Recreational Trails Program Grant or,
- Not Approve and provide staff with direction
FISCAL EFFECTS
The grant does include a 20% match of funds or in-kind labor which will come out of the Park and Recreation budget.
SUMMARY
The City Council continuously encourages staff to pursue alternative funding sources. The majority of this much needed repair is funded through this grant.
