RECOMMENDATION
The Fire Department recommends that City Council accept the grant from the Montana Department of Public Health & Human Services for Behavioral Health Systems for Future Generations.
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
The Fire Department has been awarded a grant in the amount of $563,147. This grant is from the Montana Department of Health and Human Services and will provide one-time grants to existing Mobile Crisis Response providers. The goal of the funding is to stabilize and sustain Mobile Crisis Response programs across Montana. The grant will cover operational costs that are not reimbursed by Medicaid or other State programs. In order to be eligible for this grant the City, or its partner, will have to begin billing Medicaid for eligible CRU services.
The City will use these funds to further the efforts of the Crisis Response Units. By accepting this grant the City Council is authorizing use of these funds in Fiscal Year 2025, and may be extended into FY2026.
