RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that City Council approve the award for the purchase of a floating dredge from SRS Crisafulli in the amount of $483,000.
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
A floating dredge is used at the water treatment plant to remove sediment from the sedimentation process. In the last few years, the existing dredge has had increased downtime and maintenance costs. The purchase of the floating dredge is included in the FY25 Equipment Replacement Plan and FY25 Water budget. The purchase of the equipment was advertised in the Yellowstone County News on August 2 and 9, 2024, and on the City's website. Bids were opened on August 20th, 2024, and 2 bids were received. SRS Crisafulli submitted the lowest, responsible bid.
ALTERNATIVES
City Council may:
- Approve the award for the purchase of a floating dredge to SRS Crisafulli; or,
- Not Approve the award to SRS Crisafulli. If City Council does not approve, higher maintenance costs will be incurred to maintain the existing dredge. Reliability of the sedimentation process will also be compromised due to increased downtime.
FISCAL EFFECTS
The following bids were received:
*Bid did not meet the minimum requirements, and deemed non-responsive.
The floating dredge was budgeted in the amount of $594,086. The excess budget will be used for overages in the purchases of other FY25 water fund equipment, if needed.
