RECOMMENDATION

The Recreation Division will be providing an update on Summer recreation programs and what programs will be taking place from Fall to Winter.

BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)

The Parks and Recreation Department's main goal is "One More". We are always looking for ways to increase participation in our programs. We are always striving to get one more person to a park or utilizing a trail.
The Summer recreation programs were at or near capacity all summer long. The Rec2U program expanded to 8 parks this summer. Staff will also highlight activities at the pools and sports camps.
The Recreation Staff will also expand on all the programs that will be going on this Fall and what will be offered this Winter.

Here are the 5 topics that the Recreation Division will be covering at the work session.

  • Where We Left Off (from April 1st): quick recap of summer plans and programs.
  • Summer Prep and Startup: review all the hiring and training that led up to summer starting
  • Dog Days (Numbers Wrap-Up): Highlights of programs, enrollment numbers, what we learned
  • Back to School (What Now and Future Plans Update): Fall and Winter Programs, and expansion updates
  • Questions from council
