RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends approval of the purchase of replacement parts for Headworks Screen #3 in the amount of $133,801.43.
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
The Water Reclamation Facility utilizes four (4) headworks screens to remove debris from incoming wastewater. These rotary screens operate continuously to protect downstream treatment processes and equipment from damage. The components of the headworks screens wear down over time due to the harsh conditions in which they operate. Periodically, the wear parts are replaced to avoid failure.
FMS Screens is the manufacturer of the four (4) headworks screens. Saveco North America Inc. is the only area vendor for FMS Screens. The replacement parts are proprietary and need to match the original equipment. The quote form and sole source justification are attached to this memo.

ALTERNATIVES
City Council may:
- Approve the purchase of replacement parts for the Water Reclamation Facility Headworks Screen #3; or,
- Not approve the purchase of the replacement parts. If not approved, the screen will eventually fail, resulting in higher maintenance costs for downstream processes and an increased risk of treatment failure.
FISCAL EFFECTS
The purchase of Headworks Screen #3 replacement parts is for $133,801.43 and is funded in the FY25 Wastewater budget.
