RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that City Council accept the donation from Phillips 66 in the amount of $25,000 to purchase Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the Billings Police Department (BPD) Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team.
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
Council policy requires that any donation greater than $500 must be approved by the City Council. City Council is being asked to accept a donation in the amount of $25,000 from Phillips 66. The donation will be used by Billings Police Department SWAT Team to purchase Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other equipment to enhance operational abilities.
ALTERNATIVES
City Council may:
- Approve the donation to the Billings Police Department in the amount of $25,000 or;
- Disapprove the donation to the Billings Police Department in the amount of $25,000 and provide further direction to staff.
FISCAL EFFECTS
There is no impact on the General Fund since all activities will be supported by donations.
