RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that City Council accept a donation from Billings Blizzard Fastpitch in the amount of $9,000 to be used to purchase a maintenance shed to store equipment used to maintain the ballfields at Poly Vista Park.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Billings Blizzard Fastpitch is a softball organization that uses Poly Vista Park for practices and games. Ongoing field maintenance is required to keep the facilities in safe, playable condition, which involves the use of various tools, equipment, and materials. Billings Blizzard Fastpitch has offered a donation to purchase a maintenance shed to be placed at Poly Vista Park. The shed will provide direct access to the tools and materials needed for field upkeep. The organization will be allowed to use the shed during their permitted times on the fields. This improvement will reduce the amount of staff time required at Poly Vista Park, allowing Parks staff to focus on maintenance needs in other areas of the city.

BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)

PRPL is asking for approval per policy as the donation exceeds $500. PRPL will facilitate the purchase and placement of the shed in Poly Vista Park.

FISCAL EFFECTS

Budgeted park maintenance funds of $500 will be used to offset any additional material costs associated with procurement and installation. An overall reduction in expenses for the City and PRPL is anticipated, as permitted user groups will perform their own field maintenance utilizing the shed.
