Five City Vehicles in the car and light truck class are scheduled for replacement in the City’s Equipment Replacement Program and were approved by City Council during the FY 11/12 budget process.

The bids are for the following types of vehicles:
• Four mid size ext. cab pickups (Engineering, Public Works, Cemetery),
• One 1/2 ton 4x4 pickup w/plow (Parks)

Staff advertised for sealed bids for City Vehicles on October 20 and 27, 2011, with a bid opening on November 1, 2011.

The City Council may:
• Approve bid awards for City Vehicles
• Not approve bid awards for City Vehicles

The City received bids from three vendors on the vehicles as outlined below:

Staff recommends awarding Bid Schedule I without trades to Menholt Chevy for the bid amount of $71,396.80 and retaining the trade vehicles for sale at auction. Staff recommends rejecting the lowest bid with trade for Bid Schedule II from Fremont Motors(1) first bid in the amount of $28,970.88 because the vehicle bid does not meet the required specifications for the snow plow package. The unit bid is not intended or designed for use with a snow plow. Therefore, staff recommends awarding Bid Schedule II with trade to Fremont Motors(2) for their second bid of $30,352.82 which meets specifications.
