Staff is requesting that the City Council consider authorizing and executing a Contract Amendment for Professional Services with HDR Engineering to provide design and construction administration services for W.O. 11-08 Water Treatment Plant (WTP) High Service Pump Station 2011 Transfer Pump Replacement.  The original Professional Services Agreement in the amount of $71,900.00 was for design and construction administration for the replacement and upsizing of the existing H-2 Transfer Pump including a new motor and variable frequency drive, discharge piping, valves, modification of the existing concrete pump pad, new pad for the variable frequency drive, and power supply.  Contract Amendment No. 1 for $22,600.00 is for additional upgrades that include providing a 480 volt switchboard that will eventually feed all the Transfer Pumps and other smaller High Service Pumps as well as the existing Motor Control Center.  The switchboard will be fed by two transformers to provide redundancy.  Other upgrades include replacing the existing  High Service Pump Station Motor Control Center and replacing transformer T3 as it was found to have PCB's.  

 The Council may:

• Authorize Contract Amendment No. 1 with HDR Engineering in the amount of $22,600.00; or
• Do not authorize the Contract Amendment No. 1.  

Funds for this Contract Amendment No. 1 are available from Water Funds budgeted in FY12.  If approved, the Professional Services Contract with HDR Engineering will total $94,500.00. 

Staff recommends that Council authorize Contract Amendment No. 1 with HDR Engineering in the amount of $22,600.00.
