PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
On July 9, 2012, the City Council adopted the Resolution of Intent to sell the property located at 1048 Grand Ave as known as the former Dairy Queen building. The Dairy Queen building has been demolished and the property is now vacant. The Public Works Department has no use for the property and it would better serve the public as private property. Staff has advertised a public hearing for this date, notified surrounding owners about the possiblity of the sale, and requested sealed bitds from interested buyers. The sealed bids are due by September 6, 2012 at 2pm.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
Council may:
- Approve the sale of 1048 Grand Ave Lot 3A, Block 13, Sunset Subdivision 5th Filing; or
- Not approve the sale of 1048 Grand Ave Lot 3A, Block 13, Sunset Subdivision 5th Filing
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There are minimal costs for mailing and publishing the public hearing notice. Profit from the sale of the property will go to the Gas Tax fund.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends approving the sale of 1048 Grand Ave with the legal description of Lot 3A, Block 13, Sunset Subdivision 5th filing to a bidder that will be determined from the bids received by September 6, 2012.
