Staff is requesting that the City Council authorize a contract for professional services with Morrison-Maierle, Inc. to provide engineering services for W.O. 12-31 East End Industrial Area Storm Drain. The purpose of this project is to alleviate surcharging and flooding of the storm drain in 4th and 6th Avenues North. This contract will evaluate alignments for a new 72-inch diameter storm drain that would tie into and redirect flows from the existing 72-inch storm drain at North 23rd Street and 4th Avenue North and eventually discharge into the Yegen Drain.   After this initial alignment evaluation and predesign, a contract amendment will be negotiated for the completion of the design and bidding. Morrison-Maierle Inc. was selected for this work through the RFP Process.

The Council may:

• Approve the Professional Services Contract with Morrison-Maierle, Inc.; or
• Do not approve the  Professional Services Contract with Morrison-Maierle.

Funding for the design and construction of this project has been approved in the CIP projects (FY12 Storm Drain Funds $400,000.00). The contract with Morrison-Maierle, Inc. is in the amount of $96,175.00.

Staff recommends that Council authorize the Mayor to sign a contract for professional services with Morrison-Maierle, Inc. for W.O. 12-31 East End Industrial Area Storm Drain in the amount not to exceed $96,175.00.
