PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT

On July 23, 2012, Council approved a contract with Fisher Construction, Inc. to construct a new gazebo at South Park.  The South Side Neighborhood Task Force has been actively seeking donations to fund upgrades to the project.  They have received $1,000 from The Vegas Hotel and $2,000 from Phillips 66 for a total of $3,000.  This amount will go toward funding Bid Alternate #3 to provide electrical upgrades to the gazebo as described in Change Order #2, see Attachment A.  Bid Alternate #3 totals $3,570, the remaining $570 not covered by the donation will be covered by the project contingency funds.

ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED

Council may:
  • Approve Change Order #2.
  • Not approve Change Order #2 and provide direction to staff.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The total cost for Change Order #2 is $3,570.  The donation from the South Side Neighborhood Task Force totaling $3,000 will be applied toward Change Order #2.  The remaining $570 will be covered by the project contingency funds.  There will be no other financial impact to the City.

RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends Council approve Change Order #2 in the amount of $3,570 to fund electrical upgrades to the South Park Gazebo project.
