PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
Staff requests that the City Council approve a cooperative agreement with the Southern Land Office (SLO) of the Montana Department of Natural Resouces and Conservation. The agreement allows the SLO to call for City assistance as needed and if City resources are available and for reimbursing the City for response costs.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
Council may:
- Approve the agreement between the City and the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation Southern Land Office; or
- Not approve the agreement.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The agreement provides the City with invoicing authority for reimbursement of agreed upon expenses related to a request for personnel made by the SLO. The SLO will reimburse the City for any assigned firefighters' overtime rate and benefits plus travel, per idem, lodging and other miscellaneous expenses. The agreement can be cancelled with 30 days notice by either party.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the one-year cooperative agreement dated August 12, 2013, between the City of Billings and the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation Southern Land Office.
