The City Attorney's Office will be implementing case management software for both its Civil and Criminal Divisions. This case management software will increase productivity and streamline administrative responsibilities by allowing City Attorney staff to access each other's notes, legal documents, briefs and templates and generate detailed reports that now have to be constructed manually. This case management software will make it considerably easier to manage cases, notify victims/witnesses and keep an improved, more precise status of current criminal and civil cases as well as save the legal assistants time spent opening paper files, locating files and filing documents. This is a sole source software as one other competing software product does not contain the capabilities of the proposed New Dawn JustWare. This software is also utilized by the Yellowstone County and Missoula City attorney offices.

The Council may:

• Approve the Contract with New Dawn; or
• Not approve the Contract with New Dawn

The purchase of this software was approved as part of the FY 2014 budget. The total proposed financial impact for the first year of the Contract is $61,968.00. The on-going yearly costs are $4,089.00.

Staff recommends that the City Council approve the attached Contract with New Dawn.
