PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
W.O. 09-12 Inner Belt Loop will construct an arterial road from Wicks Lane to Alkali Creek Road as part of the Phase I construction. Right-of-way has been procured through this corridor except for one section through a city-owned parcel. The subject parcel is Lot 1, Block 5 of High Sierra Subdivision, 2nd Filing, and it currently has an access easement running through it for a road. The road alignment that was finally determined does not run in the existing easement. This amended plat will dedicate the needed right-of-way for the Inner Belt Loop road alignment. As part of this process, the existing 120-foot wide access easement will be vacated since it is no longer needed.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
The Council may:
- Approve the amended plat for Lot 1, Block 5 of High Sierra Subdivision, 2nd Filing and authorize the Mayor to sign the amended plat and associated documents for vacating the 120-foot wide access easement; or
- Do not approve the amended plat. If the amended plat is not approved, the Inner Belt Loop cannot be constructed or would have to be rerouted.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Since the new right-of-way replaces the existing easement, there is no cost associated with this amended plat.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the amended plat for Lot 1, Block 5 of High Sierra Subdivision, 2nd Filing and authorize the Mayor to sign the amended plat and associated documents for vacating the 120-foot wide access easement.
