The Swords Rimrock Park Trail Head located at the intersection for Airport Road and Rimtop Road was initially developed as part of the first phase of the trail improvements along the rims in Swords Rimrock Park in 2005.  Since then improvements to the trail head have been funded through various donations.  Through a cooperative partnership with PRPL and Billings Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitors Bureau funding has been raised to continue making improvements at the trail head that will include a vault restroom facility, a cistern, a Kiosk and entry signage.  The following are contributors to this effort:

Yellowstone Rim Runners	$  6,650
Billings Park Recreation and Preservation Foundation	$  6,000
BikeNet (including $13,000 donated by St. Vincent Heart and Sole Run)	$20,000
Recreational Trails Grant through BikeNet	$14,000
Billings Rotary Foundation	$25,000
TOTAL	$71,650

PRPL is deeply appreciative of the partnership with the Billings Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitors Bureau who have coordinated this funding effort and the service organizations and clubs who have so generously contributed to this trail head improvement project. City Council policy is that all donations greater than $500 must be approved by the governing body.

The City Council may:

• Accept the donations and recognize these service organizations and clubs; or,
• Do not accept and recognize these donations.  

There will be no financial impact to the City.

Staff recommends that the City Council accept these donations and recognize these service organizations and clubs for their generous contributions to the Swords Rimrock Park Trail Head Improvements.
