PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
In recognition of the 2003 Public Works/Public Utilities merger, staff is recommending that the current Public Utilities Board be renamed the Public Works Board. This action will recognize the varied functions of Public Works beyond utilities and allow the Board the opportunity to provide input to all operational areas. The Board members will be in a position to offer their perspective on Solid Waste rate and operational issues, Street/Traffic operations, and general administrative items. Staff has discussed this issue with the Board, and the members support this action.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
