PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
Council has directed staff to periodically review the aquatic fees at the municipal swimming pools. The last adjustment to the fee structure was in 2012 which lowered the youth admission age from 7 to 5. With the increased operational costs which includes chemicals, utilities and seasonal wages, staff is recommending a minimal adjustment to the pool admission for both youth and adults to help offset these increases. See Aquatic Fee Adjustment Attachment A. See also Resolution for Aquatic Fee Adjustment Attachment B.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
Council May:
- Approve the Proposed Aquatic Fee Adjustment, or
- Make revisions to the Fee Adjustment, or
- Not approve the Proposed Fee Adjustment and provide Staff with additional guidance.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The estimated revenue generated by the fees increase is $20,145.00. That income will help to offset some of the increasing operating costs.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the resolution and associated fees.
