PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
A request has been received from MorningStar Senior Living to change the name of Bonaventure Drive to Bell Drive. Bonaventure Drive runs between Central Avenue and Bell Avenue, one block west of Shiloh Road. When the senior living complex was originally developed, it was owned by and called Bonaventure Senior Living. Bonaventure sold to MorningStar December 1st, 2013. MorningStar Senior Living does not want to retain the Bonaventure name and originally requested the street be named MorningStar Drive. Staff does not want to deal with a potential name change every time the ownership of the complex changes. The Fire Department suggested and concurs with the name Bell Drive. Notice of the proposed name change and public hearing was sent to the owner of record for Tract 1A C/S 1648 and to all residences receiving mail with a Bonaventure Drive address.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
The Council may:
- Approve the name change to Bell Drive; or
- Not approve the street name change
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The City incurred nominal costs in advertising and sending notices for the public hearing.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends City Council approve the resolution changing the name of Bonaventure Drive to Bell Drive.
