PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The solids in the primary anaerobic digesters are heated through a heat exchange system with hot water from a 30-year-old boiler system at the Wastewater Plant. To ensure continued, uninterrupted, hot water for the digesters and associated heating for the building, the boiler needs to be replaced.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
The Council may:
1) Approve the bid award; or
2) Not approve the bid award.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Bids were publicly advertised for the replacement of the boiler on January 28 and February 4, 2010. Bids were opened on February 9, 2010. The replacement of boiler system is part of the approved CIP and there is adequate funding in the Wastewater Plant budget for this expenditure. The bid results are:

RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Council award the bid for the replacement of the primary digester boiler system to Rolin Adkins High-Tec Boilermakers, Inc. in the amount of $108,830.00.
