Bid Award for 2015 Tractor Truck for Street/Traffic Division

PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT

Four bids were received by the Street/Traffic Division on October 28, 2014 to purchase a 2015 Tractor Truck.  This Tractor Truck is used for transporting the milling machine to work locations.  This purchase will replace an existing tandem dump truck that was converted for this use.  The new truck is included in the FY 2015 Equipment Replacement Plan (ERP) previously approved by City Council and funding is included in the FY2015 Public Works Budget.  The existing truck will be traded to the company providing the new Tractor Truck.

ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED

City Council may:
  • Approve the purchase of the 2015 Tractor Truck, or;
  • Disapprove  the purchase of the 2015 Tractor Truck.  If not approved the existing truck will continue to be used.  The existing truck is at or near the end of its useful life.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The funding is included in the Public Works budget for the Street/Traffic Division for FY 2015.

RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends awarding the bid for the purchase of a 2015 Tractor Truck in the amount of $105,267.00 to Tri-State for their third bid (Tri-State (3)).  Staff also recommends trading Unit 1157 for $3,000.  Total bid amount less trade is $102,267.
