The purpose of this project is to reconstruct streets near Exposition Drive between 1st Avenue North and 4th Avenue North in accordance with the Billings Exposition Gateway Concept Plan.  The streets included in this project are 3rd Avenue North between Exposition Drive and North 10th Street, 2nd Avenue North between North 9th Street and North 10th Street, North 9th Street between 1st Avenue North and 3rd Avenue North, and North 10th Street between 1st Avenue North and 4th Avenue North.  The improvements include water, sanitary sewer, storm drain and street improvements, including street lighting.  The project construction was bid on May 19th.  Council delayed award at the May 26th, City Council meeting to allow time to sell the bonds that will partially finance the project.  There was one bid for the project.  There were two additive alternates bid with the project and one alternate bid item.  Staff is recommending approval of the construction contract plus additive alternate #1 and schedule 2 alternate #1.

City Council may: Approve the construction contract for W.O. 15-08 Expo Gateway to Knife River in the amount of $2,993,637.25; or, Disapprove the construction contract.  The construction will not be completed this year if the contract is not approved.
