PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
Seven bids were received by the Street/Traffic Division for the Public Works Department on September 15, 2015 to purchase a 2016 56,000 GVW Tandem Water Truck. This new vehicle will replace an existing truck as part of the FY 2016 Equipment Replacement Plan (ERP).
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may:
- Approve the low bid for a 2016 56,000 GVW Water Truck, or;
- Disapprove and reject all bids for the 2016 56,000 GVW Water Truck. If the truck is not purchased, the existing truck will be used, but its maintenance costs will continue to rise and its reliability will decline.

The funding is included in the Public Works budget for FY2016.

RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends approving the purchase of a 2016, 56,000 GVW Tandem Water Truck from I-State in the amount of $131,719.00, plus trading-in Unit #1214 for $12,000.00 and purchasing the 5 year engine/transmission warranty for $3,650.00, totaling the net price of $123,369.00.
