PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
Two bids were received by the Street/Traffic Division for the Public Works Department on December 15 to purchase two new current year Articulated Motor Patrols. This purchase will replace two existing Motor Patrols that are included in the FY 2016 Equipment Replacement Plan (ERP).
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may:
- Approve the award of the two Articulated Motor Patrols, or;
- Disapprove the award of the two new Articulated Motor Patrols. The existing Motor Patrols are nearing the end of their useful life.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The City received 2 bids for the two Articulated Motor Patrols as shown below:

RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends awarding the bid for the purchase of the two Articulated Motor Patrols in the amount of $487,550.00 to Tractor and Equipment. Staff also recommends trading the existing Motor Patrol units 1204 and 1212 for $43,000.00. The 5 year transmission/engine warranty is $7,575.00 per Motor Patrol for a total of $15,150.00. Total bid amount less trade and along with 5 year warranties is $459,700.00.
