PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
Staff is seeking Council approval of a contract to reconstruct the manual irrigation system at Veterans Park. This is a CIP project approved in FY 2016 and funded through the Park District #1 assessments. This project will replace the existing irrigation system with a new automated system, achieving efficiency savings in water usage and significantly reduced staff time. The construction period will be 60 days, beginning after September 1st. The only bidder was The Good Earth Works of Billings, with a base bid of $343,200.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may:
- Approve the contract for $343,200, or;
- Disapprove the bid and provide staff with additional guidance.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funding for this project comes from the City Wide Park District #1 and was approved in FY2016. There will be no additional financial impact to the City.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council award the Veteran's Park irrigation system reconstruction contract to The Good Earth Works of Billings for the base bid of $343,200.
