PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
On April 9, 2012, the City Council approved a five-year contract with Morrison-Maierle, Inc. to provide all the project design, construction administration, construction survey, on site construction inspection, and project closeout for the Aviation and Transit Department for civil engineering work required during the five-year term. This term contract is amended each time a project is undertaken, and Amendment 25, for $237,471, includes all of the services listed above for this project.
The Taxilane West Construction Project will develop a new area for the construction of larger aircraft hangars. The project includes 550 feet of new taxilane, 33,000 square feet of aircraft parking ramp, 1,400 feet of access roads, and 600 feet of water main lines. The estimated construction cost of this project is $1,300,000. The scope of work and associated engineering fees have been negotiated by staff and are acceptable for this engineering work.

ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED

- Approve Amendment 25 for the engineering services with Morrison-Maierle, Inc.; or
- Decline to approve Amendment 25 with Morrison-Maierle, Inc. and advise staff on how to proceed.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The total cost of the engineering services in Amendment 25 is $237,471. These fees will be funded 90% with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP) entitlement grant funds and 10% with local match funds. The FAA's grant funding will be $213,723.90 and the City's local match will be $23,747.10. The local match funds are budgeted and available in the Airport's Capital Account.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council approve Amendment 25 with Morrison-Maierle, Inc., for the amount of $237,471, for the engineering services required for the Taxilane West Construction Project.
