The Billings Police Department Firearms Range is located at 2327 Hillcrest Road and the department wishes to construct a building for shelter and storage purposes.  The Invitation for Bids (IFB) seeking responses from qualified contractors to construct a firearms range building was advertised on May 5 and 12, 2016.  Five contractor's responded to the IFB, and are as follows:

1. Hardy Construction - $170,000
2. General Contractors - $137,383
3. DPS Company - $113,950
4. Heart Mountain Construction - $109,140
5. Cucancic Construction - $108,164

A staff team reviewed the bids and recommend awarding the construction contract to the low, qualified bidder, Cucancic Construction, Inc. of Billings. Work on the building will begin after contract approval and is proposed to be completed within 118 days.

 

City Council may:

• Approve the contract with Cucancic Construction, Inc. or;
• Disapprove the contract with Cucancic Construction, Inc. and provide guidance to staff on the Council's preferred alternative.

This project will be funded through a previously approved donation of $50,000 from Phillips 66, and the remaining funds have been budgeted for in the Police Department fund.

Staff recommends that the City Council approve the contract for $108,164 with Cucancic Construction, Inc. to construct a firearms range building.
