PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The Billings Public Library Foundation applied for and received a $2,000 grant from the Billings Community Foundation, Rose Family Fund, for the Library's Senior Outreach Program. The funds will be used to purchase large print and audio materials, as well as senior book club kits. By accepting the funds from the Billings Library Foundation and Billings Community Foundation, Rose Family Fund, the Library will be able to enhance the quality of outreach in our community for our more senior population. Administrative Order 117 requires that all donations with value exceeding $500 be accepted by the Council prior to expending the funds.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may:
- Accept the Billings Library Foundation donation, or;
- Disapprove the donation.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no budgetary impact. The purchases made will be paid through the grant.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council accept the $2,000 donation from the Billings Library Foundation.
