PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The Billings Police Department wishes to purchase a police firearms range targeting system costing $7,500. Denny Rehberg has offered to donate $5,000 through the Billings Police Foundation and the Foundation would like to donate the remaining $2,500 needed for the purchase. The targeting system would be used to train officers in decision making and identifying threats vs. non-threats.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may accept or not accept the $7,500 donation from The Billings Police Foundation to be used to purchase the police firearms range targeting system.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Accepting this $7,500 donation will allow the Billings Police Department to purchase the police firearms range targeting system. Without the donation the department will not be able to purchase this training tool as there are no FY 2018 funds budgeted for this item.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council accept the $7,500 donation from the Billings Police Foundation to purchase the police firearms range targeting system.
