PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
Three bids were received by the Street/Traffic Division for the Public Works Department on September 12, 2017, to purchase a 2018 58,000 GVW 12 yard dump truck with plow assembly and sander. This purchase will replace an existing truck that is included in the FY18 Equipment Replacement Plan (ERP).
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may:
- Approve purchasing the 58,000 GVW 12 yard dump truck with plow assembly and sander from the low bidder, or;
- Disapprove the purchase. The existing truck is nearing the end of its useful life.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The City received 3 bids for the 58,000 GVW 12 yard dump truck with plow assembly and sander as shown below:

RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council accept the low bid and purchase the new dump truck from I-State Truck Center in the amount of $173,385. This amount includes the trade ($30,000) and the 5-year engine/transmission warranty ($3,385).
