PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
Section 3.05 of the Billings Charter and Section 2-204 of the Billings City Code require that a Deputy Mayor be elected by voice-vote at the first regular Council meeting following a municipal election. The municipal election is on November 7, 2017, so the Council is required to elect the Deputy Mayor at this Council meeting. The Deputy Mayor fulfills the Mayor's responsibilities if he/she is unable to do so for any reason. City Code requires that the Council elect a Mayor Pro Tempore at its first meeting in January, 2018.
