Bids were received on November 28, 2017, to purchase a 2018 56,000 lb GVW 12-yard dump truck with snow plow mount/controls and sander hydraulic controls for the Distribution and Collection Division of the Public Works Department.  This purchase will replace an existing truck that is included in the FY 2018 Equipment Replacement Plan (ERP) and the FY 2018 budget for the Distribution and Collection Division.  The City received six  bids and I-State Truck Center was the low bidder.

City Council may:

• Approve purchasing the 2018 12-yard dump truck from I-State Truck Center or;
• Disapprove the purchase and reject all bids. If the new truck is not purchased, the Public Works Department will continue using the existing unit that is at or near the end of its useful life. Maintenance costs will increase and reliability will decrease.

Staff recommends that Council award the contract to purchase a 2018 56,000# GVW 12-yard dump truck with snow plow mount/controls and sander hydraulic controls to I-State Truck Center in the amount of $129,277.00 (less trade). This includes the new truck, trading in the current truck and the five-year warranty on the transmission and engine.
