PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The City Council approved a three-year agreement with Guardian Security for Library guard service on June 23, 2008. The agreement allows the City and Guardian to negotiate a new hourly rate for the service annually on the anniversary date of the agreement. For the third year of the agreement Guardian has proposed a new hourly rate of $17.25, which is a $.50 per hour, or 3%, increase over the current amount.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may
- approve the hourly rate of $17.25 for the third year of the three-year agreement with Guardian Security or
- not approve the hourly rate of $17.25 for the third year of the three-year agreement with Guardian Security.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The estimated annual cost for the third year of the three-year agreement is $67,850. The Library has sufficient funds in the proposed FY11 budget to cover the cost of the services.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Council approve the hourly rate of $17.25 for the third year of the three-year agreement with Guardian Security.
