PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The Billings Regional HazMat Team applied for and received $1,000 from the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) to conduct an Integrated Emergency Management Course (IEMC). The Billings Fire Department will host the IEMC - Complex Coordinated Attack training program. This program is community specific and will help identify strengths and weaknesses in responding to this kind of attack. Local law enforcement and emergency services have been preparing for this type of event and the local delivery of FEMA’s IEMC will aid in making this a “whole community” effort. City Council policy requires that it approve donations valued at $500 and above.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may approve or disapprove accepting the $1,000 donation from the LEPC.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Accepting the donation from the LEPC will help offset the costs of planning and executing this 4-day workshop Preparing Communities for a Complex Coordinated Attack, March 27-30, 2018.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends accepting the $1,000 donation from the LEPC to help offset costs of the training workshop.
