Phillips 66 has donated $15,000 to the Billings Fire Department for the purpose of purchasing physical fitness equipment for use by Fire Department personnel.  Donations to the City that exceed $500 require City Council approval.  Walking regularly on a treadmill maintains healthy muscles, bones, ligaments, joints, etc. Brisk treadmill walking improves cardiovascular fitness, reduces cholesterol, and benefits fire personnel in the performance of their duties, which often involves strenuous tasks performed in hostile and toxic environments.

City Council may approve or disapprove accepting the $15,000 from Phillips 66.

By accepting the donation, the Fire Department will purchase physical fitness equipment for its personnel.

Staff recommends that the City Council accept the $15,000 donation from Phillips 66 for the purchase of physical fitness equipment.
