W.O. 17-18, Water Treatment Plant Rip Rap, will install approximately 430 lineal feet of rip rap along the bank of the Yellowstone River at the Water Treatment Plant.  This is one of the last sections along the plant that have yet to be reinforced.  Additionally, 200 lineal feet of bank will be rip rapped along Coulson Park to prevent erosion into the old landfill.  Construction will start in late summer when river flows allow for construction.  Permitting has been approved with the Army Corps of Engineers, Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks, and Montana DEQ for the Water Treatment Plant.  Permitting for Coulson Park is pending approvals.

The project was advertised on May 25th, June 1st, and 8th in the Yellowstone County News and on the City's website. Bids were opened on June 12th, 2018, and four bids were received. Donnes, Inc. submitted the lowest responsible bid.

City Council may:

• Approve the construction contract with Donnes, Inc. for W.O. 17-18 Water Treatment Plant Rip Rap in the amount of $100,299.00, or;
• Do not approve the construction contract.  If the project is not constructed, the banks along the Water Plant will continue to erode potentially causing damage to plant infrastructure.  Additionally, the old landfill at Coulson Park will continue to erode and become an environmental concern.
