PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The final assessment for Sidewalk, Curb and Gutter SID No. 2914 (work order 18-10) has been completed by the Finance Department and is ready to spread on the 2018 tax roll. This project is for installing conventional curb and gutter or ribbon curb and will reconstruct the Poet Streets. The streets included in the project are Highland Park Drive, Longfellow Place, Irving Place, Whittier Place, Emerson Place, Raymond Place and Woodland Drive and are generally located north of Poly Drive and west of Virginia Lane.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
The Council must hold a public hearing, and then may:
- Approve the resolution; or
- Not approve the resolution. The property owners will not be assessed, and the General Fund will be responsible for paying for the improvements.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The total cost spread to the district is $219,155.25. The assessment is spread over a 12 year period, at an interest rate of 4.50%. The assessments will range from $258 to $9,889. The amount assessed per property is stated in the resolution.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council conduct a public hearing and pass the proposed resolution to assess property owners for sidewalk, curb and gutter construction costs for SID 2914 (work order 18-10).
