PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
W.O. 18-30 City County Drain Mitigation is a project to mitigate for the movement of the Yellowstone River into the City County Drain. The City County Drain is a very important storm drain outfall for the city's storm drain system and the migration of the river channel to the north has made the outfall essentially unusable for much of the year. City Council approved a resolution June 11, 2018 declaring the work an emergency. City staff hired COP Construction to install a cutoff wall in the channel to separate the city's storm drain system from the river. The original contract was for $40,000 but additional work was needed due to the number and intensity of storms the city experienced this spring and summer. The total for the work was $50,713.16 so a change order in the amount of $10,713.16 needs to be executed.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may:
- Approve change order #1 in the amount of $10,713.16. There is no option as the work has been completed.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There are adequate storm drain funds available for this change order.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the change order for COP Construction in the amount of $10,713.16.
