PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
Fire Station #6 serves a response area of approximately 30,000 people. Currently this fire station has absolutely no back-up power capability which during a time of crisis or inclement weather, would render the station useless in terms of operational capability. Overhead doors, fuel pumps, HVAC systems, etc wouldn't operate. In addition, in the event of a man-made or natural disaster, it can function as a place of refuge for those citizens seeking assistance during times of disaster or post disaster. Without this back-up power generator, the station is vulnerable in the winter months to freeze up of not only the facility, but fire apparatus as well.
