PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
City election ward boundaries must be adjusted to conform to city limit amendments resulting from the exclusion of city property. The City Council approved the exclusion of the portion of Broadwater Avenue located between 56th Street West and 58th Street West, (Annexation #10-01) on August 9, 2010 by Resolution #10-18976 requiring a change in the boundaries of Ward V. Two readings are required for this action. The first reading of the ordinance is scheduled for August 23, 2010 along with a public hearing, and the second reading is scheduled for September 13, 2010.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may approve or not approve the ordinance to amend the boundary of Ward V on first reading. Approving the ordinance will modify the boundaries of Ward V to exclude the Broadwater Avenue road tract between 56th Street West and 58th Street West. Denying the ordinance will not modify the boundaries of Ward V.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no budget/financial impact from this action.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Council hold a public hearing and approve this ordinance on first reading removing recently excluded property from Ward V.
