PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
Western Sky Subdivision and Western Subdivision are located south of King Avenue West and west of South 44th Street West. They are being developed as multi family developments. The original plats of Western Sky Subdivision and Western Subdivision included no access strips. These no access strips prevented access to South 44th Street West from areas of the developments. No access strips are utilized to control access on collector and arterial streets. Because they are on the plats, council action amending the plats is required to allow access.
The developer has submitted a traffic accessibility study for the development and is requesting accesses to South 44th Street West. City staff reviewed the traffic accessibility study and agree that none of the proposed accesses will have a negative affect on South 44th Street. Attached are the subdivision plats of Western Sky Subdivision Amended and Western Subdivision Amended. These subdivision plats include Lot 3-A-1 and Lot 5A of Western Subdivision Amended and Lot 2A-1-1 of Western Sky Subdivision Amended. Approval of these plats will allow the accesses to South 44th Street in locations shown.

ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may:
- Approve the subdivision plats for Western Sky Subdivision Amended and Western Subdivision Amended, or;
- Disapprove the subdivision plats. If not approved, the developer will need to re-design their sites without vehicle access to South 44th Street. This will force the developments to rely solely on access between developments in order to access South 44th Street.

RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the subdivision plats for Western Sky Subdivision Amended and Western Subdivision Amended.
