TITLE
Security System Expansion for New Evidence Building
PRESENTED BY:
Rich St. John
Department:
Police
Presentation:
No

PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT

The Evidence Facility Expansion Project requires an expansion of the existing security system, which was installed and is currently maintained by Kenco Security.

The proposal from Kenco Security is for proprietary equipment which expands and supplements the existing system for the Expansion.  The Police Department is requesting Council award a contract to Kenco Security for the additional components and labor required to expand the security system for the new portion of the Evidence Facility.

The new Facility, which will have a larger footprint for the vehicle impound lot, is monitored for motion access around the perimeter.  These monitoring units are an expansion to existing systems.  Additional swipe key pads are also necessary for access to the secure Facility.

The expanded security system will be used to provide secure access, monitor the interior and exterior of the evidence building, as well as the impound lot.

ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED

City Council may:
  • Approve a contract with Kenco Security for all compatible materials and labor required to expand the security system for the Evidence Facility Expansion in the amount of $94,188.39, or;
  • Disapprove a contract with Kenco Security for all compatible materials and labor required to expand the security system for the Evidence Facility Expansion, and provide additional guidance to staff.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Funds are available for this project in the Police Department's budget for the Evidence Facility Expansion.

RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council approve a contract with Kenco Security for all compatible materials and labor required to expand the security system for the Evidence Facility Expansion in the amount of $94,188.39.
