RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council award a contract for W.O. 20-42, North 29th & 30th Streets Two-Way Conversion to Montana Lines, Inc. in the amount of $1,468,327.05.

BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)

North 29th and 30th Streets will be reconstructed from one-way to two-way streets from Montana Avenue to 6th Avenue North.  This project will include reconstructing/modifying 12 existing traffic signals, reconstructing ADA ramps, and re-striping parking stalls and travel lanes (including the installation of new turn lanes).  

ALTERNATIVES

City Council may:
  • Approve the award W.O. 20-42, North 29th & 30th Streets Two-Way Conversion to Montana Lines, Inc. in the amount of $1,468,327.05, or;
  • Do not award the contract and reject all bids. If the project is not awarded, the streets will remain one-way streets.

FISCAL EFFECTS

The project was not originally budgeted in FY20 but was presented to City Council at the work session on 4/20/20 with an estimated cost of $1.9 million. Approval of this contract will require a budget amendment. If approved, a budget amendment will be included as a part of the next quarterly budget amendments.  The project will use Tax Increment Financing funds from bonds being sold.
