Public Hearing and Resolution for Fee Increases at Mountview Cemetery

RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends Council conduct a public hearing and approve the proposed fee increases for Mountview Cemetery.

BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)

Pursuant to the City Council discussion at the June 15, 2020, Work Session regarding potential fee increases and as part of the City Council Approved FY21 Budget at the Business Meeting on June 22, 2020, a number of proposed fee adjustments were included to increase revenue.  The proposed fee adjustments for the Mountview Cemetery would replace Resolution 16-10569 last approved in 2016.  In summary, (Attachment A) includes the proposed increases to burial products and services.  For comparison, (Attachment B) is provided with the current fees.

ALTERNATIVES

City Council must hold a public hearing and then may:
  • Approve, the proposed Fee Adjustment Resolution or; modify the Fee Adjustment Resolution, or;
  • Disapprove and provide staff with additional guidance.

FISCAL EFFECTS

The proposed Fee Adjustment Resolution would increase revenue by approximately $8,000 based on recent historical operations.
