RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends accepting the $300,000.00 on behalf of the Regional Hazmat Teams and authorizing Jason Lyon, Battalion Chief to act as the Program Manager of the Grant funds and appointing Mayor William Cole as the signatory official.
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
Acceptance of this grant award will provide funding for five (5) Montana Regional Hazmat Teams to establish a hazmat drone program and to provide pilot training for the teams. The City of Billings Fire Department will accept and manage the funds distributions to the regional hazmat teams under a cost reimbursement plan. The City is not required to match this award with any funds.
ALTERNATIVES
City Council may approve or disapprove accepting the $300,000 FY2020 State Homeland Security Program Grant award.
FISCAL EFFECTS
This opportunity presents no financial exposure to the City and allows the delivery of state-of-the-art equipment and training to the five Regional HazMat Teams.
