Staff recommends approving the purchase of the MobileEyes fire inspection software from Tyler Technologies.

The fire department's business inspection program currently uses paper forms for company level inspections and pre-fire plans. This process requires each inspection form to be scanned and manually entered into the fire records system. The MobileEyes software will provide a more efficient system and eliminate direct person-to-person contact by emailing inspection reports to business owners.  Retention of inspection records will be automatic via a cloud system.

The department currently  uses New World Public Safety Software for fire records management.  Tyler Technologies owns both New World and MobileEyes and the two programs have the ability to share data.  Building pre-plan data will have the ability to be updated in the field via a mobile device and transferred to the department's fire records system without manual input.

The new software will help reduce the potential spread of Covid-19 and make the inspection process more efficient.

City Council may approve or disapprove the purchase of the MobileEyes fire inspection software program.

The cost of the software is $19,929.00. This includes training, setup, and configuration.  The initial cost of the software qualifies and is approved for CARES Act reimbursement.  

Annual license renewals are $12,714.00 per year, which will be included as part of our current New World/Tyler Technologies annual charges.
